Jay Fowler '00 is in his 12^th season as a coach with the Gilmour Academy baseball program – his eighth as the head coach where he helped lead the Lancers to back-to-back district championships and regional appearances in 2014 and 2015. He first joined the staff as an assistant in 2005-06 and held that role for four seasons before taking over the reins of the program in 2010.

Fowler’s relationship with Gilmour however, extends well beyond his coaching venture with the baseball program. The 2016-17 year marked his eighth as a member of the boys basketball coaching staff, as well as his sixth year as an employee of the school. He was a history teacher at the Middle School for four years before transitioning to the Lower School two years ago to serve as an instructor in social studies, as well as the humanities K-6 academic leader. 

Additionally, Fowler attended Gilmour for four years, racking up nine varsity letters for the Lancers - four in baseball, three in basketball and one each in soccer and cross country. He was the team captain in both basketball and baseball, while earning All-Ohio honors in the latter. He continued his playing career at John Carroll University, where as a pitcher and outfielder, he was a team captain for the Blue Streak baseball team.

He has a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll, majoring in communications and history. He also received his teacher licensure from Notre Dame College and is working on his Administrative License through the University of Notre Dame.
