For the second consecutive year, the Varsity A boys hockey team came to Culver, Indiana and conquered. The Lancers went a perfect 4-0 in the Cornfield Classic hosted by Culver Academy to earn the coveted Champions Cup. In the round-robin tournament, Gilmour notched victories against Buffalo Grove High School (Ill.) 5-1, Carmel High School (Ill.) 3-1, Culver Academy (Ill.) 4-2, and Latin Academy (Ill.) 5-0. Leading goal scorers were Kessel Richards '21 and Frankie Valenti '21 with three goals apiece. Vince Stafford '22, Gavin Riddle '20, Charlie Tuggey '21 and Bryce Hofstrom '20 each scored a pair of goals, while John Kohanski '21, Joe Roddy '21 and Justin Evans '20 each had one goal. Evans also led the team with six assists, while Valenti and Tuggey each had four. Additional assists were provided by Connor Underwood '22, Luke Robertson '21, Jake Howse '20, Anthony Iacobell '20, Roddy, Richards and Stafford.
In net, Dylan Stefan '21 won the Carmel and Latin games, facing a total of 41 shots and giving up just one goal in the two games combined. Toby Herlong '21 faced 30 shots, winning games versus Culver and Buffalo Grove, giving up only three goals in the two games.
The Lancers improved to 9-2-1 on the season.
