Gilmour Varsity A hockey defeats Saint Ignatius, captures Greater Ohio Hockey League Tournament championship

GATES MILLS, Ohio — Gilmour Academy's Varsity A hockey team capped a dominant league run Sunday, defeating Saint Ignatius 3-1 to capture the Greater Ohio Hockey League Tournament championship.

Galen Frizzie '26 led the Lancers with two goals, while Sean Porter '26 added a score as Gilmour controlled play against its longtime rival in the Jan. 11 title game.

The victory improved Gilmour's record to 19-1 on the season and completed a sweep of the league's top honors, as the Lancers claimed both the GOHL regular-season and tournament championships for the 2025-26 campaign.

Gilmour will look to carry its momentum on the road this week when it travels to Meadville, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Martin Luther King Jr. Hockey Tournament, which begins Friday, Jan. 16.
