GATES MILLS, Ohio --- Gilmour Academy's boys 16U hockey team earned the 2025 Gilmour Academy Holiday Tournament championship Sunday, Dec. 21, with a 5-4 overtime victory against the South Hills Panthers.
Reid Ashton '27 scored the game-winning goal in overtime to secure the title for the Lancers. Ashton also led Gilmour offensively with two goals in the championship game. Garrett Bereksazi '27, Ryan Campbell '27 and Alex Lam '28 added goals as the Lancers built enough offense to force extra time.
Ashton was named the tournament's 16U Most Valuable Player following standout performances throughout the event. He contributed at both ends of the ice, playing a key role offensively while also anchoring Gilmour's defensive efforts.
The championship win capped a successful tournament run for the Lancers and highlighted their ability to perform in high-pressure situations.
Gilmour returns to action Friday, Jan. 2, when it hosts Nichols School at Floyd E. Stefanski Ice Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
